Prince Saxthor and his companions (his best friend Bodrin and the wizard Tournak) have returned from exile, but their mentor, the wizard Memlatec warns them it is still too dangerous to return home. The Dark Lord of Dreaddac is preparing to march, and his servant, the witch Earwig is still active and searching for them. He then sends them on a quest to find the hidden power crystals and restore the Crown of Yensupov. The three set off on a journey that is fraught with hazards. Yet there are many friends in their corner if they can find them. Earwig is sending creatures to find them, and the defenses of Neuyokkasinian are being infiltrated.
Review:
The second installment of the Neuyokkasinian Arc of Empire series continues Prince Saxthor’s coming of age. C. Craig Coleman spins an interesting fantasy saga with lots of action and intrigue. The dialogue is still reminiscent of J.R.R. Tolkien. There were a few slight hiccups in the dialogue that seemed unintentionally humorous, but the story is still entertaining. This series should be a must for lovers of Epic High Fantasy.
