Synopsis:

Ryan Drake was once a soldier in Britain’s elite Special Air Service. Now, he works for the CIA as an elite operative whose team tracks down missing agents. His latest mission is to retrieve a prisoner codenamed Maras and return her to U.S. soil within forty-eight hours. This operation was his most dangerous to date, but it proved the straightforward part. A terrorist kidnaps Drake’s sister and forces him to go rogue, relying on the scarred agent to accomplish his enemy’s task before his people find him.

Time is running out, and the terrorist may not be his greatest enemy.

Review:

This novel is Will Jordan’s first book, first published in 2012. It follows a former SAS soldier who now works for the CIA. He has retrieved a dangerous woman from a Siberian prison, only to be forced to trust her when he goes rogue to free his sister from terrorists. I enjoyed the fast pace of this book. While there was an element of repetitiveness, the characterization was intriguing. Some events are improbable. For instance, to anyone who knows Saudi culture, a stunning, blonde woman allowed to move about Saudi Arabia without a head covering or driving is unlikely.

I read his latest book, Dark Harvest, almost a year ago. A decade of experience has improved his writing style.
