Synopsis:

Former army ranger and private military contractor Cameron Becker escorts a Russian businessman named Luka Belikov through Baghdad when a group of people dressed as Iraqi soldiers ambushes them. What started as a routine job sets Becker on the path of something bigger. Searching for his client, he joins forces with a World Health Organization doctor named Lori Dalton. The pair soon find themselves contending with bioterrorists who unleash a virus that starts to send humanity spiraling into madness and extinction. The soldier and doctor must race against time to find a cure that leads from Iraq to Turkey and finally to the infamous Dyatlov Pass, where the mysterious fate of Nine Soviet mountaineers in 1959 may hold the key to saving millions of lives in 2019.

Review:

Dark Harvest was a fun and intense read. Will Jordan (aka. The Critical Drinker) weaves military action and a historical event stained with an air of mystery into a well-crafted narrative. We meet Cameron Becker, an ex-army ranger who has a habit of following his instincts rather than orders as he tries to find his client, only known to him as Luka Belikov. His hunt for Belikov’s kidnappers leads him to a WHO doctor with a sense of right and wrong that often puts her in conflict with her superiors. Together they must find a way to halt a virus outbreak that could lead to humanity’s extinction.
