Louie Thorne had always been afraid of the water. It took her to a dark and dangerous place. When thugs murder her father, she turns to her abilities to travel through the dark and water as a means of feeding her rage. Using her unpredictable powers, she exacts horrible revenge on those people who murdered her parents.

Terrified of what Lou is becoming, Aunt Lucy turns to a retired agent for help. Lou and Robert King take on powerful men in a search for the truth. But has the quest for revenge already taken Lou too far?

Lou Thorne is a woman with the ability to travel between shadows. This power can take her almost anywhere. In water, she can travel to another planet. This is a world of savage beasts where she brings some of her victims—those who have truly earned her ire. She is a skilled marksman and an effective fighter.

Shadows in the Water is a tale of revenge. Lou’s father and mother were murdered on the orders of a crime boss. From a little girl afraid of her powers, she has embraced her abilities and has become an assassin. The action of the book shifts between mystery, suspense, and high stakes action. The protagonist’s powers are balanced by the limits placed on them and their unpredictable nature. Therefore, Lou doesn’t have an overwhelming advantage. The story is well paced, though slow in places. I’m looking forward to further adventures of Lou Thorne.
